The bones of the facial skeleton may be fractured following an assault or a car accident. If the bones are out of position then they may require surgery in order to ensure that the appearance of the face is not altered. This usually involves incisions hidden within the skins natural creases, and fixing the breaks with small titanium plates which will stay in for the patient’s lifetime.
A fracture of the mandible (jawbone) can result in the teeth not meeting together properly. The treatment may require plating of the fracture or wiring the teeth together for a short period of time to ensure that the fracture heals with the teeth in the normal position. - If you would like further information or if you wish to make an appointment to discuss a surgical procedure with Dr Lotz please contact us.
