Surgery to change the position of the upper and lower jaws can be performed in order to improve the position of the upper and lower teeth relative to one another, and also to improve the appearance and harmony of the face. This procedure usually needs to be combined with orthodontics (braces) for a period of time both before and after the surgery.  Surgery can also be performed on the chin alone in order to change its position forward or backwards so that it is more in keeping with the rest of the face.
